Far From Home

My blog today comes from a recent publication of Covenant Players drama ministry.  In it, it highlights the stories of 2 young women who accepted the call to serve the Lord in Covenant Players.  If you are interested in stepping out in faith, if you want to serve the Lord, if you want to use drama and your creative talents, contact Covenant Players.  www.covenantplayers.org

Line Maagaard
Line Maagaard is from Fredericia, Denmark, and the first Danish missioner to join Covenant Players since 2002.  Line first heard about Covenant Players from her cousin, who saw a CP program at her school last spring. She told Line about CP since the unit said they were always looking for more people, and she knew Line loved acting, and had done a lot of it in her home-town.
“I sent an application and prayed that if this was where God wanted me to be, He must show me. In some ways I mostly just wanted to stay in Denmark, since it was only a few years ago that I went away for a year to Canada as an exchange student. But this was just a cool way to do a lot of acting that has Christian values, which was a big part of my decision, since I have grown up in a Christian family and my faith has always been important to me.”
Line spent the Exodus 2014 (fall mission) on the Midnight Sun Unit, covering Denmark, Sweden and Finland.  This mission (spring 2015) she continues the adventure in a new language on the Elbe Unit covering northern Germany!
Susan Carlson
Susan comes to us from Oregon,USA. Her family are all strong, loving Christians, and very close-knit. Susan tells about God’s call early in her life.
“When I was 13, God spoke directly to my heart and told me that I would be a missionary. I’ve always been passionate about drama, and as I grew older, I realized I wanted to use theatre and story in ministry, but I still had no idea where I would go, how I would do it, or who I would go with. I knew that God would reveal more to me when the time was right. I asked my playwriting professor for ideas and he gave me a list of organizations to look at, including CP. I went on the website and filled out the request for more info.
About two weeks before I graduated (having no plan for afterwards) I received a call from Chauna Stapelberg. Hers was the first CP voice I heard, and her call gave me hope for the future. Her call was so well timed, I suspected God’s hand. I was interviewed by Andy Rice. He described my dream job, and seemed as excited about the possibility of my joining as I was. I prayed about it, and felt peace in my soul that God was saying to go. After I’d been accepted, my family and I got to see Corrinne and Andy do a playdate at their home church.”
Susan is currently missioning in the Pacific Gate area, covering Japan, Hawaii, Alaska and California!
